Meet the band

Dani Wiggers

Our Lead guitarist and backing vocalist. Just like our bassist he is a true front man, extending his guitar play beyond the stage to get every bit of attention he can possibly get from the public.
you’d imagine that having several ego’s from here to the moon would clash in a band.
Not at SCAR, here we get satisfaction out of lifting each other up.

his chaotic energy isn’t limited to the stage though, the fast chaotic riffs that seem odd are probably also written by Dani. He also helps our music stand out with catchy melodic lines.

Dani Lives for music, aside from the band Dani is also active as a composer for games and film. you can find a link to his work below, feel free to reach out if you would like to work together with him.

Dirk Groen

one of the founders of our band, clearly our bassist and lead vocalist
Dirk started the band together with tom during the corona pandemic, it was an excuse to drink beer back then. With a voice like his he was always going to be the singer, but they couldn’t find a bassist so he started taking lessons.

Just like our guitarist he is a true front man, his confidence is clearly visible wherever he goes.
you’d imagine that having several ego’s from here to the moon would clash in a band. Not at SCAR, here we get satisfaction out of lifting each other up.

Tom Steur

one of the founders of the band, and obviously the drummer.
After years of playing guitar Tom decided that playing drums is something he enjoys a lot more. So after a lot of practice he switched instruments, leaving room for our guitarist Dani to join the band.

Just because tom is now a drummer doesn’t mean that he isn’t involved in the writing of riffs. you can find guitar riffs of Tom in almost every song still, chances are that he wrote the groovy part of the song.

We are SCAR, a high-energy thrash metal band from Hoorn, the Netherlands. For us, music is all about embracing your true self and stripping away your daily masks. Our shows are known for bringing massive energy and infectious positivity to the stage, moving even the most stubborn crowds.

Our music is designed to provide the energy you sometimes lack to get through the day. At SCAR we join you in fighting that battle by being so uninhibitedly ourselves that you simply have to break free and join in.

Musically, we at SCAR combine the genre's raw intensity with technical elements, complex guitar riffs, and aggressive arrangements. Our sound and technical compositions draw direct comparisons to Bay Area thrash metal icons such as Testament and Megadeth. With a driving tempo and technical precision, SCAR brings a modern, revitalized energy to the old-school thrash metal scene.

history of the band

The band was formed during the corona pandemic, when Dirk and Tom started SCAR as an excellent excuse to get together and drink beer. Tom, originally a guitarist, discovered that he felt more at home behind the drum kit. However, his guitar background continues to play an important role in writing the (especially groovy) riffs. Dirk picked up the bass out of necessity, but his role as vocalist was established from the start: with his unique voice and unmistakable rockstar attitude, he was always the ideal front man.

The line-up was completed when Dani joined on guitar and backing vocals. Together with Dirk, his chaotic-melodic riffs and great stage energy take the shows to a higher level. Dani is currently studying at the Metal Factory, where he is further developing his guitar playing and songwriting. Naturally, all of this flows directly back to SCAR to help the band move forward creatively and technically. With Dani on board, SCAR made the transition from covers to original material in late 2024. In 2025, SCAR took to the stage at the Metal Battle, armed with just enough original songs to compete. Barely a year later, the band possesses a full set, sharpened by the feedback they received: tightness. By investing in in-ear monitoring and a click track, SCAR has grown into a tight and uncompromising purveyor of live mayhem.
